Department Responds to a Spate of Vehicle Accidents

By Chief Daniel Dreyer
October 13, 2018

Croton Falls firefighters respond to vehicle accidents throughout the year, however, we’ve responded to a higher than usual number in the past few weeks. Fortunately, most motorists involved haven’t been seriously injured, but their cars, trucks and SUVs typically sustained significant damage, roads have been closed and other motorists have been delayed in their travels. The accidents have been caused by a range of reasons: excessive speed, driver fatigue, distracted driving and poor judgment. Like the causes of the accidents, they’ve occurred in a range of locations: I-684, Route 116, Route 121, Hardscrabble Road, etc.

While we like getting to know people in town, there are easier ways to meet a firefighter so please slow down, pay attention and drive carefully. Especially since school is back in session.
